The confirmation came from former members of the terror group, he added.
In addition, with the confirmation of the troops involved, they saw Indama seriously injured in that encounter.
“It was revealed by his former colleagues, family members and the troops who saw him during the meeting that he was seriously injured (it was revealed by former members of the group, family members and officers who saw him seriously injured during the meeting),” he said. explained.
However, the military did not recover the body, as it was taken by members of the ASG despite “intense fire” from the soldiers, he said.
But the military was still validating the information, de los Santos said.
WesMinCom claimed Indama’s death, along with the report that an ASG member named “Botak” was killed during a brief encounter with government forces in Basilan on October 29.
Botak was a well-known follower of Indama, the military added.
Indama had been wanted for his involvement in numerous kidnapping incidents, notably the 2001 kidnapping on the island of Dos Palmas in Palawan.
