Lead teacher Stuart Clyde joins “Darth Vader” in video

A Perth high school has marked “Star Wars Day” with a special assembly from the cockpit of the Millennium Falcon.

Bertha Park High School produced the video for students currently at home due to coronavirus blockage.

School principal Stuart Clyde said he made the video with “parts and bobs that I lied about the house.”

May the 4th (Be With You) is a play in the famous line of the 1977 film “May the Force Be With You”.

Clyde, who said he was a “huge fan” of the films, plays Han Solo and Darth Vader at the special assembly.

Star Wars characters, including R2D2, are seen patrolling the school grounds, which officially opened in January.

The assembly features a number of characters from the film.

Clyde said he compiled the video over the past week on one tablet and two home computers.

He said: “There are many images that can be downloaded online from YouTube and the Star Wars website itself.

“So it’s just a case of searching the Internet for some tutorials on how to do things like Darth Vader’s voice.”

The director said he hoped the online assembly “would keep people’s spirits up and keep them engaged.”

He said, “We didn’t want to lose the idea of an assembly all together, we thought it would be nice to have all the children in one place at practically the same time.”

“We try to stay in touch with our entire community as much as possible, and we try to keep everyone informed, probably even more so than we would if we were at school.”

The special assembly also features a tribute to the opening titles of the Star Wars “crawl” series.

It reads: “It is a dark moment in the galaxy.

“The threat from the Imperial Virus is high, but a small gang of Bertha Park rebels are doing their best to keep people learning and pass on advice that could keep them safe.”

Clyde contacted Star Wars actors Mark Hamill and Ewan Mcregor on Twitter in hopes that they will share the video with their millions of followers.

He said: “It has been really positive so far, it seems to be going down very well, which we are absolutely delighted with.”
