MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine government released guidelines on coronavirus quarantine measures the day the measures took effect in provinces and cities across the country.

Malacañang published the “General Guidelines on the Implementation of Community Quarantine in the Philippines” on Friday, May 1.

Explains the rules that will be enforced in areas under Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) and Least Strict General Community Quarantine (GCQ).

A week ago, the government announced that it would put Metro Manila and various provinces and cities in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao under ECQ from May 1-15. The rest of the country would be under GCQ during the same period.

Until now, these were only verbal announcements. The sole basis for these rules were press conferences, Powerpoint presentations and comments to the media by presidential spokesman Harry Roque.

The guidelines were published together with an executive order formalizing them and the resolutions of the inter-agency working groups that adopted them.

You can find a summary version of the quarantine guidelines here.
