On Duterte’s 76th birthday, Palace wishes him ‘more healthy years ahead’

MANILA, Philippines – Malacañang wished President Rodrigo Duterte “more healthy years ahead” to fulfill his vision of bringing “genuine and meaningful change” to the Philippines when the Executive Director turned 76 on Sunday.

“We pray to the Almighty to continue to provide President Duterte with more years of health ahead so that he can continue to fulfill his vision of bringing about genuine and meaningful change in our society,” Presidential spokesman Harry Roque said in a statement.

Roque also shared having witnessed the president’s leadership that has “inspired” many to provide good public service.

“As the Official Spokesperson for the PRRD, I have seen first-hand the decisive and compassionate leadership of our Executive Director, along with his hard work and love for the country, and how this served the interest and improvement of the Filipinos and inspired the officials of the government, myself included, to deliver the public service that our people truly deserve, ”said Roque.

The Communications Secretary of the Presidency, Martín Andanar, also wished Duterte good health as he greeted the president with a happy birthday.

“In the midst of the pandemic, may President Duterte continue to enjoy good health so that he can continue to institute real change in our country and our society, and lead all Filipinos toward collective recovery from this pandemic, inclusive growth, and equitable progress, ”said Andanar. .

At a press conference on Sunday, Roque said that Duterte will celebrate his birthday in the city of Davao. The president will return to Manila on Monday to welcome the arrival of the one million purchased doses of the Sinovac COVID-19 or CoronaVac vaccines.

Roque has previously said that Duterte’s wish for his 76th birthday is for the Philippines to overcome the COVID-19 pandemic.

Last year, Duterte spent his birthday while in quarantine in Malacañang.
