MANILA, Philippines – Presidential spokesman Harry Roque has invoked his right to privacy by refusing to release his positive COVID-19 test result.

Apart from the right to privacy, he also said that he has the right to the presumption of regularity in the pronouncements as presidential spokesman.

“That is covered by privacy,” he said in an interview on ABS CBN News Channel on Monday when asked why he refused to show his test results.

“Why can’t public officials such as the presidential spokesperson have the right to the presumption of regularity of pronouncement?” he added

Roque announced last week that he tested positive for COVID-19 but was asymptomatic.

He declined to show his test result, saying he doesn’t think it’s important.

“Being positive is not a badge of honor. I stayed in an isolation facility; Would you do that if it wasn’t positive? ” he said.

Roque also quashed rumors that he is staying at a luxury hotel, revealing that he is in quarantine at a two-star hotel in the city of San Juan.
