MANILA, Philippines – On March 20, Saturday, the Department of Health (DOH) recorded another all-time high of 7,999 new COVID-19 cases in the Philippines, bringing the total to 656,056 cases, of which 80,642 are active. cases.
The DOH record for new COVID-19 cases for Saturday is currently the highest the country has seen since the pandemic began. The new count surpassed the 7,103 infections recorded on Friday, March 19.
The new all-time high was also despite the fact that six labs were unable to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS) on March 19.
Of the new cases, 94.4 percent are mild, 3.1 percent are asymptomatic, 0.9 percent are critical, 1 percent are severe, and 0.53 percent are moderate cases.
Meanwhile, DOH recorded 597 new recoveries and 30 new deaths, bringing the total to 562,484 and 12,930, respectively.
Nine duplicates, of which five were recoveries, were removed from the total case count, the DOH said.
“Additionally, 10 cases that were previously labeled as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation,” the department added.
