White House says Biden is fine after stumbling while boarding Air Force One

ABOARD AIR FORCE ONE – US President Joe Biden is fine after tripping over the steps while boarding Air Force One on Friday, White House spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters.

She suggested that strong winds at Joint Base Andrews near Washington could have been a factor.

“It’s very windy outside,” Jean-Pierre said when asked about his stumble. “He’s doing 100 percent right.”

It did not say whether Biden had been examined by a traveling doctor after the episode.

While boarding a flight to Atlanta, where he was to speak to the Asian-American community about a shooting there this week, Biden tripped slightly in the middle of the 25 or more stairs, recovered, then tripped again and briefly fell to one knee. , according to video sequences.

The president appeared to rub his left knee before getting back up, then completed the stairs at a slower pace. He stopped at the top of the stairs, turned, and offered him a brisk salute.

In late November, Biden suffered a small fracture to his right foot while playing with one of his dogs.

At 78, Biden was the oldest person to assume the presidency when he entered the White House on January 20.
