A magnitude 4.2 earthquake occurred just 12 minutes ago 91 km southeast of Ise, Japan, reported Japan’s National Research Institute for Earth Sciences and Disaster Resilience (NIED).
The earthquake occurred at a great depth of 370.6 km below the epicenter near Ise, Ise-shi, Mie, Japan, on the morning of Tuesday March 16, 2021 at 7:03 am local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter and depth of the earthquake could be revised in the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review the data and refine their calculations, or when other agencies issue their report.
According to preliminary calculations, we do not expect that the earthquake was felt by many people and did not cause any damage. In Toba (population 23,300, 84 km away), Ise (population 97,300, 91 km away) and Tahara (population 38,200, 94 km away), the earthquake was probably not felt.
