MANILA, Philippines – Anakalusugan party list representative Mike Defensor on Tuesday lost his leadership position as vice chairman of the House Legislative Franchise Committee to a majority member.
Defender was replaced by Zamboanga Sibugay 1st District Representative Wilter “Sharky” Wee Palma II. Palma was then removed as deputy director of the majority.
Replacing Palma as Deputy Majority Leader is Iloilo 3rd District Representative Lorenz Defensor.
Quezon City 1st District Representative Anthony Peter “Onyx” Crisologo was later removed as Assistant Majority Leader and was replaced by Palawan 3rd District Representative Gil Acosta.
Crisologo, however, was elected vice chairman of the House games and entertainment committee.
Also part of the reorganization was Duterte Youth Representative, Ducielle Marie Cardema, as she is now a member of the House appropriations committee.
And the representative of the COOP-NATCCO party list, Sabiniano Canama, was elected a member of the Chamber’s cooperative development panel.
To recall, the House legislative franchise panel denied broadcasting giant ABS-CBN a new franchise. Defender was one of 70 lawmakers who voted to adopt the report of the technical working group (TWG) recommending the denial of the network’s franchise application.
