About 80 to 90 percent of local government units have complied with at least three of the provisions of the latest uniform travel protocols, a Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) official said on Wednesday.

“We are continuously in dialogue with [the] League of Governors and League of Mayors and Municipal Mayors to ensure full compliance with IATF Resolution 101 … To date, I would say that about 80 to 90% of our local governments of cities and municipalities and provinces have fulfilled three provisions, “said DILG Undersecretary Epimaco Densing during the House Transportation Committee hearing.

Densing said that under Resolution No. 101 of the Interagency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID), travel no longer requires travel authorization from the police and that a local medical certificate is no longer required. originally. as well.

Travelers will no longer be subject to quarantine unless they show symptoms at the destination upon arrival, Densing said.

That resolution also stated that travelers no longer need to undergo COVID-19 testing unless required by the LGU before traveling.

“There are still local governments that are … in their executive orders they would like their travelers, before entering their area of jurisdiction, to have an RT-PCR and that is allowed by Resolution 101,” Densing said.

Densing said that some LGUs, including Sarangani, Ilocos Norte, Baguio, have requested that they use antigen instead of RT-PCR tests. He said that “we all agree that this will now be part of their respective executive orders.”

The DILG has defended the flexibility of travel protocols, noting that these matters were consulted with health experts. – RSJ, GMA News
