MANILA, Philippines – Boracay’s world-famous white beach and El Nido, Palawan’s Nacpan Beach, made it to a travel website’s Best Beaches in Asia list.

According to TravelAdvisor, Boracay’s White Beach was ranked 12th, while Nacpan Beach was ranked 18th in TripAdvisor’s 2021 Travelers’ Choice Awards for the continent’s 25 Best Beaches, an award received by the Department of Tourism.

“The recognition of TripAdvisor is even more comforting since the sun and the beach have always been the best tourism products in the country. Boracay, known for its White Beach and El Nido, Palawan, home to Nacpan Beach, are among the first destinations we open, ”Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat said in a statement Monday.

India’s Agonda and Cavelossim beaches took the top two spots for Asia this year, followed by Myanmar’s Ngapali Beach.

The DOT noted that this year’s TripAdvisor Travelers’ Choice Awards took into account the number of times users “saved” beaches to their accounts along with the quality and quantity of reviews.

The travel survey also highlighted other key implications of traveler preferences amid the Covid-19 pandemic, including outdoor and well-ventilated areas over confined spaces.

“Filipinos miss going to the beach. In fact, it’s one of the best outdoor activity options right now, according to the recent Philippines travel survey, ”said Puyat.

“And while we celebrate our beaches being named among the best in Asia, please be responsible tourists when you travel. Follow all health and safety protocols for a fun and safe trip to the beach, ”he added.
