Pedro Taduran is now ready to defend his IBF minimumweight crown when he takes on Rene Mark Cuarto at General Santos City on Saturday.
The fight at Bula Gym will be the second fully Filipino title fight in a week on local soil, following Vic Saludar’s WBA minimumweight title win over Robert Paradero last week in Laguna.
During Friday’s weigh-in, left-hander Taduran tipped the scales at 104 pounds, while Fourth hit the exact 105-pound weight limit for their 12-round clash.
Albay-born Taduran won the IBF strap for impressive compatriot Samuel Salva in Taguig in September 2019.
Bicolano, 24, retained the title through a majority draw when he faced Mexico’s Daniel Valladares in Mexico in February 2020.
Taduran (14-0-1, win-loss-draw) plans to extend his reign when he faces his challenger from Zamboanga del Norte, who has an 18-2-2 record.
Cuarto last fought in December 2019 when he stopped Jayson Francisco.
