The Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Commissioner’s Office Tuesday approved the revised agreement that sends the league’s leading scorer, CJ Perez, to the San Miguel Brewers.

Submitted for approval last week, the PBA’s trade committee carefully studied the details of the deal over the weekend before making its decision.

The deal has Mr. Pérez moving from Terrafirma Dyip to Beermen in exchange for role players Matt Ganuelas-Rosser, Russell Escoto and Gelo Alolino, along with first-round rookie picks from San Miguel for this year’s draft ( eighth) and in 2022..

The 2022 election was the review of the deal.

Pérez was part of Dyip for two years and was a stalwart of the team from the beginning.

Unfortunately, the Dyip was not very successful during that run, and the team finished last in the only tournament last year with a 1-10 record.

It is something that the management of Terrafirma hopes to change by redeeming its star player.

“We reviewed our program. It was a long process for the management and the coaches. So we came to the conclusion that we were still missing pieces and needed certain players, ”said Bobby Rosales, the team’s representative on the PBA board, of his decision to transfer Mr. Pérez.

“Without a doubt, CJ Pérez is a good player and it would be difficult to compare him with other players. But the strategy was to complete the team. And to get something of value, you have to give something of value, “he added.

In addition to the veteran players they will get from San Miguel, Terrafirma is at the top of the eighth pick to get from the deal, in addition to the first overall pick they have, considering how talented this year’s rookie pool is.

“We have players we are looking at. But we know that we are weak in the central position, and we need height and firepower, ”said Rosales.

In San Miguel, meanwhile, Mr. Pérez will play alongside multi-league MVP winner June Mar Fajardo, as well as veterans Arwind Santos, Alex Cabagnot and Chris Ross.

They are also part of the Beermen led by Leo Austria Terrence Romeo, Mo Tautuaa and Von Pessumal.

The trade committee, which decided the deal, was made up of league technical consultant Joey Guanio, Deputy Commissioner Erik Castro, Atty’s legal advisor. Melvin Mendoza and the technicians Ma. Roscelle Teotico and Junior Bengua.
