The president of the PRESIDENTIAL Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC), Dante Jiménez, passed away on Friday, January 29, 2021.
Jiménez died of an aortic aneurysm at 9:43 p.m. on January 29, 2021, the family said in a statement on Saturday, January 30.
“We ask for your prayers for the eternal repose of a man who dedicated his life to the crusade against crime and corruption and for good governance. We will miss him very much. May he rest in peace, ”Merle Jiménez San Pedro, Jiménez’s sister, said.
Jiménez was the founding president of Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption, a crime and corruption watchdog established in 1998.
In January 2018, he was appointed by President Rodrigo Duterte as head of the PACC.
He was also appointed as co-chair of the Interagency Committee on Illicit Drugs in February 2020, replacing Vice President Leni Robredo.
The VACC said it regrets the “loss of its most formidable voice in the Philippine crime movement.”
“President Dante leaves an irreplaceable void. However, we at VACC will honor his memory by continuing the crusade with a greater sense of purpose and commitment, ”VACC said in a separate statement.
Malacañang also sent his condolences to the grieving family.
