MANILA, Philippines – The Philippines was hailed as the second most “Instagrammable” – or very attractive to photograph and share on the social media site Instagram – in the world in 2021, by a global travel website.

In its list published Thursday, the travel website Big 7 Travel said the Philippines was “home to incredible natural wonders such as an underground river and tranquil rice terraces, as well as vibrant culture and history spanning several millennia.”

“From the bustling capital of Manila with its colorful colonial streets to the absolute oasis of Boracay, the gram opportunities here are endless,” the website adds.

The file photo shows children walking past Christmas lanterns known locally as ‘parol’ on display along a Manila street. Parol are star-shaped Christmas lanterns with a design that resembles the star of Bethlehem, and they are made of bamboo covered with paper. They are displayed in homes, offices, buildings and streets, and in keeping with Philippine tradition and beliefs, they also represent the victory of light over darkness. (Photo by MARIA TAN / AFP)
