SINGAPORE – A six-year-old girl who arrived from India was among 24 coronavirus cases, all imported, confirmed by the Ministry of Health (MOH) on Monday night (January 4).

The holder of the dependent’s pass is linked to three previously reported cases.

The new cases bring Singapore’s total to 58,721.

All were asymptomatic and tested positive while complying with advisories at home or in isolation after arriving in Singapore.

They included one Singaporean, two dependent pass holders, two work pass holders, one short-term permit holder and 18 work permit holders.

The Singaporean is a 62-year-old woman who returned from the United States.

Dependent pass holders and work pass holders had come from India.

The 18 work permit holders came from Indonesia and India. Fifteen of them are foreign domestic workers.

One of the work permit holders is a 28-year-old Indonesian man who boarded a ship on November 1 in Indonesia.

On December 31, he was quarantined because he had been identified as a close contact of a previously reported case, who is a member of the crew of the same ship.

He was taken to a government quarantine facility on January 2 and tested positive for Covid-19 infection on January 3.

Before that, he had not left ship.

The holder of the short visit pass is a 29-year-old man who arrived from Romania to board a ship docked here as a member of the crew.

There are no new cases in the community or within workers’ bedrooms.

Overall, the number of new cases in the community has increased from one case in the previous week to nine cases in the last week.

The number of unrelated cases in the community has also increased from one case in the previous week to three cases in the last week.

With 10 cases discharged on Monday, 58,482 patients have fully recovered from the disease.

A total of 67 patients remain in the hospital, including one in the intensive care unit, while 128 recover in community facilities.

Singapore has had 29 deaths from Covid-19 complications, while 15 who tested positive have died from other causes.
