“I am sure that we will all see brighter days ahead because we believe in the indomitable spirit of the Filipino,” he said in his New Year’s message on Friday.

Duterte admitted that 2020 was difficult, but the Filipinos held on.

“We ended the previous year with so many difficulties and trials but with great gratitude. It was because we endured it all, sustained by our distinctive resilience as a people. “

The president said the nation also learned from the health crisis and adversity.

“We realized the value of human life and our relationships with each other. We understood what it means to be a family, a community, a nation. We learned to share and take care of the well-being of our brothers, ”he said. “This New Year 2021, let us be aware of all the blessings we have received and how lucky we are.”

Malacañang said on Thursday that the country would welcome the New Year with “renewed hope” with the anticipated arrival of vaccines for Covid-19.
