Barry Gibb has revealed another preview of his next collaborative album of stars Greenfields: Gibb Brothers Songbook, Vol. 1. It’s a duet version with Dolly Parton of the Bee GeesClassic “words”.

The remake was captured on the country-flavored album’s first recording session, which was announced in November along with its title track “Words of a Fool,” featuring Jason Isbell. The set also features Gibb redoing “Jive Talkin ‘” with Miranda Lambert, “Butterfly” with Gillian Welch and David Rawlings, and tracks with Alison krauss, Olivia Newton-John, Keith Urban, Brandi Carlile, Little big townand Sheryl crow, among others.

Dave Cobb, the ever-sought-after craftsman from the Nashville studio that produced the album, told Rolling Stone about the session: “I remember walking to where I was going to play the guitar my legs started shaking. I just recorded the weight of these two, ”he says. “They are bigger than the legends, they are icons and they are there.”

“Words” was written by Barry, Maurice, and Robin Gibb and became a hit with the Bee Gees in 1968, when it topped the charts in Canada, Germany, the Netherlands, and Switzerland. It was a No. 8 hit in the UK, where it was the trio’s third Top 10 single after “Massachusetts” and “World,” and peaked at No. 15 on the Billboard Hot 100. “Words” appears in a crime movie of that year called The Mini-Mob, directed by Robert Amram and starring British blues-pop star Georgie Fame, who sang the featured version of “Words.” The movie was known as The mini affair In the USA.

The song had attracted at least half a dozen covers by the end of 1968, with Glen campbell record it for your Wichita Lineman album at the end of that year. British pop favorite Sandie Shaw cut it for her LP Sandie Shaw’s supplement at the same time. Then it became a feature of Elvis presleylive shows in Las Vegas and was included in the album Elvis in person at the international hotel. Subsequent hit covers included those by Rita Coolidge and Boyzone, which made it their first UK No. 1.
