Memphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant is expected to be out for 3-5 weeks with a grade 2 ankle sprain, the team announced Tuesday.
That would put his comeback sometime between MLK Jr. Day and Valentine’s Day.
The current NBA Rookie of the Year averages 26.3 points per game with 54.5% shooting and 6.3 assists. He scored 44 points in the opening season loss to San Antonio.
He twisted his ankle in the second quarter of the Grizzlies’ 116-111 overtime win over the Nets on Monday night at Barclays Center when he landed on the foot of Timothé Luwawu-Cabarrot.
Morant was carried off the court in a wheelchair and did not return.
