Travelers are greeted by a SERIES of glorious peaks as they approach Pampanga, one of the country’s most historic Luzon provinces. These peaks of Mt. Arayat and the mountains of Zambales are gods of folk tales who stand as guards of the province and the people.

The majestic silhouettes of these mountains are reflected in the expanding new terminal at Clark International Airport, reflecting a deep sense of place.

Other characteristics of the province: Mt. Pinatubo and the serene bed of the Sacobia River are also reflected in the interior design of vital sections of the airport.

Along with the ease and convenience that will be provided to travelers in this new terminal, design inspirations come together to make experiences at the new Clark International Airport pleasant and meaningful, according to officials.

With the start of construction under Duterte’s management, the complete structure of the new terminal is currently in the process of installing all the necessary facilities and preparing the operational readiness protocols, according to Bi Yong Chungunco, CEO of Luzon International Premier Airport Development Corp. (LIPAD).

LIPAD is in charge of the operation and management of the airport. The construction of the terminal building was carried out by Megawide – GMR, Budji + Royals structural design. For the furnishing and interiors, LIPAD appointed the international design firm Populous together with Casas + Architects.

The formal handover of the terminal building by the Base Development and Conversion Authority (BCDA) to LIPAD for its refurbishment and installations is scheduled soon.

The new, spacious and equipped Pampanga International Airport, with higher levels of logistics capacity, technology and total service offer, marks a milestone in the history of aviation. Its predecessor facility, the former Clark Airfield, was the base of operations for the 13th US Air Force, then the largest airfield in the US outside of US territory. His transfer to the BCDA, after the withdrawal of the Philippine bases, coincided with other developments in the area to mark the beginning of a new stage for Pampanga and the rest of the country.

As the new Clark International Airport opens up to the world as the main gateway to Asia, new records are expected to follow in the economic and social development of Central Luzon.

The new passenger terminal building is located 1.5 kilometers from the existing passenger terminal and serves both domestic and international flights, with the boarding gates for each direction color-coded. It has a design capacity for 8 million passengers per year and has four floor levels, 18 airlifts and has, in total, a floor area of 110,000 square meters.

Earth tones and the center color of soft gray adorn the floors and pillars of the terminals in the check-in hall. Fresh and relaxing, accents of green and blue are added to emulate the vegetation and the bush. Pinatubo Crater Lake, respectively. A specific tint of blue that is close to turquoise represents the formation of water on Mt. Pinatubo crater lake. This tint is also present in the glass structures around the terminal, particularly in the Security Control Area.

The undoubtedly pampagueño “parol”, or star lantern, with a rhythmic display of colors, are hanging accessories in Airside’s central retail area. Kaleidoscope colors are symbols of family joy and meaningful moments. Passengers will also be able to easily decipher international gates from domestic gates. A vibrant green dominates international gates, while a serene blue does the same for domestic ones. Blue refers to the waters of Manila Bay, where the area faces; green represents the landscape of Mt. Arayat that overlooks the national boarding gates.

Passengers are greeted with a refreshing air of grays and creams in the arrivals corridor leading to Immigration. In the Baggage Claim Area, passengers are treated to a ceiling design that mimics the jagged stone walls of the majestic caves found in central Luzon.

LIPAD is a special purpose company established to manage the operations and maintenance of Clark International Airport. The members of LIPAD Corporation are Filinvest Development Corporation, JG Summit Holdings Inc., Philippine Airport Ground Support Services Inc., Changi Airports Philippines (I) Pte. Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Changi Airports International.
