The Department of Health (DOH) reported 886 new 2019 coronavirus (COVID-19) infections on Tuesday, bringing the total to 471,526 as nine labs failed to submit data on time.
This is the third day in a row that fewer than 1,000 cases have been reported. On Monday, DOH reported 766 infections, the lowest number of new cases on record since July 14.
According to DOH, the city of Davao reported the highest number of new cases on Tuesday with 61, followed by Pampanga with 58, Bulacan and Quezon City with 45 each, and Cavite with 37.
The DOH also announced that total recoveries rose to 439,016 after 253 more patients recovered from the disease, while the death toll nationwide rose to 9,162 with 38 new deaths.
Ten duplicate cases were also removed from the total case count, while eight cases previously labeled as recovered were reclassified as death.
Meanwhile, 23,348 active cases remain in treatment or quarantine, of which 80% are mild, 10.6% asymptomatic, 3.1% serious and 5.9% in critical condition.
DOH data also showed that 63% of the nation’s intensive care unit beds are available while 79% of mechanical ventilators are ready for use.
More than 80.8 million people are reported to be infected with COVID-19 worldwide and 1,766,359 have died.
