San Bede grande and voice of Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas 3 × 3 Sudan Daniel (December 17, 1987 – December 26, 2020) has passed away, Saturday.
He was only 33 years old.
The American celebrated the holidays with twins Anthony and David Semerad in Calatagan, Batangas.
Daniel had an asthma attack on Saturday that was the cause of his death.
He was rushed to the Calatagan Medicare Hospital, but was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Celebrated was Daniel’s race at St. Bede, where he earned the nickname SUperman.
Following Sam Ekwe, Daniel took up the rock mantle of San Bede in the 85th NCAA season, earning Rookie of the Year honors in the process.
Then in season 86, the 6-foot-7 big man won MVP and Defensive Player of the Year honors, leading the Red Lions to an 18-0 sweep and the championship. He averaged 10.9 points, 11.4 rebounds and 4.4 blocks per game that season.
He was missed the following year due to a torn anterior cruciate ligament.
After exhausting his years as a player, Daniel remained in the country, being a skills coach for some of the brightest prospects in the country.
In 2019, Daniel became the master of ceremonies for Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas 3 × 3 along with Mike Swift. And the two created magic in the middle of the court, bringing the games to life with their wit, humor and rhymes.
He is survived by a daughter.
