MANILA, Philippines – The chief of police for the Dolores Municipal Police in Quezon was fired after he allegedly violated the Philippine National Police (PNP) directive to ban mass rallies amid the coronavirus disease pandemic, the Quezon Provincial Police Office (QPPO) said on Wednesday.

In a report, QPPO ​​said that Police Captain Joseph Ian Java was administratively removed from his post on Tuesday, December 22, for violating the order of the PNP Chief of Police, General Debold Sinas, on the “prohibition of social gatherings. , parties and other similar activities, especially this Christmas season and at IATF [Inter-Agency Task Force on the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases] COVID-19 security protocols ”.

In a telephone interview with INQUIRER.net, QPPO ​​Police Chief Colonel Audie Madrideo said they received a report about a “small scholarship” at the Dolores police station.

“It’s not exactly a Christmas party, but a little fellowship. Someone complained, so there was an investigation, so we relieved them first, ”Madrideo said.
