A police intelligence agent who went for a run with a city mayor was shot dead by an unidentified suspect in the recovery area in Barangay 1-Poblacion, Pontevedra, in this province, early Tuesday, December 22.
Staff Sergeant Ildefonso Casugod, 37, from Barangay Recreo, Pontevedra, who was stationed at the municipal police station, died.
Captain Hancel Lumandaz, officer in charge of the Pontevedra Municipal Police Station, said that the victim was already walking with the mayor of Pontevedra, José María Alonso, his bodyguard, and the city’s fire chief, Edmund Cabatas, when the suspect was not identified, armed with a .45 caliber pistol. , shot him in the head.
The attacker, who is of medium build and 5’5 ”tall, wore a blue hooded jacket, black sweatpants and a face mask.
The suspect then fled the crime scene aboard his scooter.
The victim was taken to the Bago District Hospital in the neighboring city of Bago, but was pronounced dead upon arrival.
