MANILA – Sandra Lemonon finally cleared the air when she took to social media to share her thoughts on Miss Universe Philippines 2020 Rabiya Mateo.
While responding to his followers on Instagram Stories, one of the questions he received was, “Do you love Rabiya?”
He was asked nearly two months after his cryptic posts, including one about royal queens who “play fair” and “don’t cheat.” She made the aforementioned statements shortly after the Miss Universe Philippines pageant, where she finished as a semi-finalist.
Responding to the netizen who asked about Mateo, Lemonon said that he “has no malicious thoughts about her” and said that “they did not have the opportunity to forge a relationship.”
“I cannot love someone I hardly know, or have witnessed their heart first hand,” he began.
“But from what little I know about her, what I can say is that from the first time I saw her I loved her natural features and thought she was extremely beautiful,” he added. “I have witnessed how determined she is and I believe that with the right people who have her best intentions at heart, she can become the woman who can help others who have been in her place.”
Lemonon continued to wish Mateo “nothing but success in her journey to discover herself and be the first MUPH in a pandemic,” saying she knows “how difficult her new life must be.”
“I hope you always remember that you do not need to fit into the mold that society expects you to make, but to create your own,” he concluded.
Ahead of her statement about Mateo, Lemonon said that the public will soon hear her side of the story during the Miss Universe Philippines 2020 competition.
While she has yet to make her big reveal, the beauty queen hinted that she has experienced “things that were not aligned with my beliefs and morals” during her final season in the pageant.
“All I will share is my truth from the perspective of a 2020 MUPH candidate who has experienced all three organizations,” he said in an Instagram Stories post.
Before Miss Universe Philippines, Lemonon joined Binibining Pilipinas in 2018, where she finished as a semi-finalist; and Miss World Philippines 2016, where she was named the fourth princess.
