Police surrender after killing mother and son in Tarlac

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, December 21) – A police officer assigned to the crime lab in the city of Parañaque surrendered after shooting two residents of Paniqui, Tarlac, according to an official report published Monday.

The sketcy police report said Sergeant Major Jonel Nuezca surrendered at the Pangasinan Municipal Police Station on Sunday, about an hour after shooting Sonya Gregorio, 52, and her son Frank Anthony Gregorio, 25.

Nuezca and the Gregorio are residents of Barangay Cabayaoasan, Paniqui, Tarlac. The suspect will be submitted to disposition and further investigation. CNN Philippines is trying to get more details on the incident, but the Paniqui police chief told DZBB radio in an interview that the shooting could be related to a land dispute.

The shooting incident that was caught on camera and video is now viral on social media, with netizens criticizing the PNP’s role in the alleged killings in the country. Netizens are seeking justice for the Gregorio, calling for an end to police brutality and impunity in the Philippines.
