The presidential chief legal advisor, Salvador Panelo, denied violating health protocols after drawing criticism online when a video of him singing at a Makati city restaurant appeared on social media. The Health Department discourages public videoke and karaoke sessions because singing carries a high viral load. Panelo said he wore a face shield while singing and other guests observed a distance of one meter. “Also, the restaurant was outdoors, not indoors, scientists and doctors say that the risk of transmitting the virus is very low. In other words, there was no violation of health protocols, ”he said in a Viber message. —Leila B. Salaverria
