Rain forecast for many parts of the country due to Vicky, Tail-end of a Frontal System, amihan

Three weather systems will affect the country on Saturday, namely the Tropical Depression Vicky that will affect the Visayas and most of Mindanao, the end of a frontal system that will affect southern Luzon and the northeast monsoon will affect the north and the center. Luzón said PAGASA in its early morning forecast.

Central and Western Visayas, Palawan, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur and Zamboanga Sibugay will have gusty winds from tropical depression Vicky.

Residents are also warned that flash floods or landslides can occur in these areas during moderate to heavy rains.

Metro Manila, CALABARZON, Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, Caraga, Northern Mindanao, and the rest of MIMAROPA and Zamboanga Peninsula will have cloudy skies with scattered showers and thunderstorms due to the tail of a frontal system and tropical depression with possible flash floods or landslides during moderate to heavy rains.

The rest of Luzon will have cloudy skies with rain due to the northeast monsoon with possible flash floods or landslides during moderate to heavy rains.

Meanwhile, the rest of Mindanao will have partly cloudy to overcast skies with isolated showers due to localized thunderstorms, but flash floods or landslides can still occur during severe thunderstorms.

At 3 a.m. Saturday, the center of Tropical Depression Vicky was estimated to be 130 kilometers west of Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte with maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour near the center and gusts up to 55 kph and moving toward the west at 25 kph.

Luzon, central and western Visayas will have moderate to strong wind speeds moving east to northeast, while coastal waters will be moderate to choppy.

In the eastern Visayas and the eastern section of Mindanao, the forecast for moderate to strong wind speeds is moving southeast with moderate to rough coastal waters.

The rest of Mindanao will have a mild to moderate wind speed moving southwest to southeast with light to moderate coastal waters.
