A police sergeant, labeled by his colleagues as the leader of an arms trafficking gang, was arrested along with a partner in a raid operation Saturday night in the city of Parañaque. Police General Debold Sinas, chief of the Philippine National Police, on Sunday identified the police sergeant as Reynolfo Ursulum, 50, assigned to the Central Visayas Police Regional Personnel Retention and Accounting Unit. Also captured was his housemate Carvyn Parcon, 21, from the city of Taguig. Sinas identified Ursulum as the alleged leader of an arms trafficking union operating in Metro Manila. The agents posed as buyers of four Bushmaster M4A1 assault rifles worth P500,000 around 10 pm Saturday in front of a restaurant along Avenida Doña Soledad in the city of Parañaque. As soon as the deal was completed, undercover police officers announced the arrest and arrested Ursulum and Parcon. –Jeanette I. Andrade
