The Philadelphia 76ers have become a likely landing spot for Houston Rockets point guard James Harden. the New York Times Marc Stein Reports.
The 76ers are a possible destination if the Rockets finally get to the point of trading Harden. The Rockets have made it known that they don’t want to trade the eight-time NBA All-Star right now.
Philadelphia also has no interest in trading star guard Ben Simmons now, according to Stein.
Harden reported to the Rockets’ training camp after a brief suspension, but is still waiting for a trade sooner rather than later. On Thursday, Milwaukee and Miami were reported to be two of his preferred shopping destinations, according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania. The NBA’s Most Valuable Player also previously requested a trade from the Nets.
Houston is reportedly not interested in the Nets’ current business package. The 76ers would like to start 2020-21 with their current roster before signing with Harden, according to Charania.
The Rockets are seeking massive loot for Harden in a possible deal. Houston has made the playoffs eight years in a row with Harden. He is heading into 2020-21 with the last three league titles. Harden has finished in the top three in MVP voting in five of the past six seasons.
