Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, December 11) – The University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) announced on Friday the cancellation of its upcoming 83rd season, which was to be hosted by De La Salle University.
“After a series of discussions, the UAAP Board of Trustees made this difficult decision, placing greater consideration on the health and safety of student-athletes and those involved in the operations of our competitions,” the league said in a statement. .
“The decision will allow UAAP member schools to plan their activities for the rest of the academic year, as well as their sports programs for the next season,” he added.
The league canceled season 82 in April due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the first time in recent memory that a season was canceled.
There had been talk of the possibility of holding competitions in the first quarter of 2021 in a bubble environment, but the league ultimately decided not to go ahead with its plans.
