MANILA, Philippines – Eight people were injured after an ambulance carrying a pregnant woman collided with a bus at the intersection of Macapagal Blvd. and EDSA in Pasay City.
According to the head of Pasay City DRRMO (Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office) Randy Hizola, an ambulance from the city of Las Pinas collided with an EDS Carousel bus around 7 am.
The two vehicles were damaged due to the heavy impact. Meanwhile, eight people, including the woman in labor, her companion, the ambulance driver and a pedestrian, suffered minor injuries and abrasions.
The health worker who was aboard the ambulance suffered a more serious injury.
Five ambulances, a city rescue vehicle, a Pasay City police mobile, the Pasay Red Cross and the Manila Metropolitan Development Authority (MMDA) responded to the scene.
All the injured people were rushed to the Pasay City General Hospital, except for the pregnant woman who was taken to the Dr. José Fabella Memorial Hospital in Manila.
