Mark Dickel admits TNT lost to ‘worthy opponent’ in Geneva

SMART CLARK GIGA CITY – Falling short once again, TnT Tropang Giga hopes the third time will be the charm.

“We fell short but against a worthy opponent. Hopefully at the next conference we can go one step better, ”said active consultant Mark Dickel as he recalled the franchise’s campaign in the PBA’s just-concluded bubble season.

Tropang Giga lost again in the final to the Barangay Geneva Kings in the Philippine Cup title series, four games to one.

He was the runner-up in three conferences for TnT, reflecting his performance in the 2019 Commissioner’s Cup behind imported Terrence Jones.

While Dickel wouldn’t use injury as an excuse, he keeps his fingers crossed that the entire team will be healthy and fit if he were given another chance to compete for a championship.

“Injuries are part of the game. We just have to hope we get more luck with that at the next conferences, ”said the New Zealander.

“It’s frustrating for us to fall short in the final.”

At the same time, the active TnT consultant praised Barangay Geneva for emerging as champion of the first bubble tournament in the history of the PBA.

“Congratulations to Geneva for such a close series,” he said.
