The world record ring has 12,638 diamonds, but its creator insists the 5.8-ounce band is ‘wearable and comfortable’

  • The elaborate floral creation has broken the Guinness World Record
  • Indian designer Harish Bansal, 25, said he has no plans to sell his ‘priceless’ ring, adding that he has already received inquiries from interested parties.
  • The previous record, also set in India, was for a ring containing 7,801 diamonds.

A ring with 12,638 small diamonds has earned a place in Guinness World Records for having more diamonds than any other, but its Indian creator has no plans to sell his priceless design at the moment.

Called The Marigold – The Ring of Prosperity, the elaborate floral creation with a thick circular band weighs just over 165 grams (5.8 ounces).

“It’s portable and comfortable,” said Harish Bansal, 25, who described his bold creation as a dream project.

Bansal said he got the idea two years ago while studying jewelry design at Surat, India’s diamond hub.

‘My goal was always more than 10,000 diamonds. I destroyed many designs and concepts over the years to finally focus on this, ” Bansal told AFP news agency.

In a statement, her company Renani Jewels said each tiny petal in the ring’s eight-layer floral design was unique.

Bansal said it had already turned down applications from potential buyers.

“We have no plans to sell it at this time,” he said. “It is a matter of pride for us. Priceless.’
