The International Silent Film Festival makes noise online

MANILA, Philippines – If a film festival falls in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, does it make a sound?

The Manila International Silent Film Festival, for the first time since its inception in 2007, will be digitized to ensure that audiences can watch safely from their own homes.
This is the 14th edition of Asia’s first and oldest silent film festival.
The list of free classic movies to be screened online is composed and accompanied by Filipino musicians.
A total of 10 film selections from Japan, Italy, France and Germany are presented.
The Japan Foundation Manila will present six silent animation short films from the Japanese Animation Classics collection today at 6 pm, digitally performed and subtitled in English by the National Film Archive of Japan.
