MANILA, Philippines – A 27-year-old man who allegedly raped, robbed and threatened to kill a masseur was taken into police custody in Pasay early Thursday morning, the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) said in its report.

QCPD director, Police Brigadier General Danilo Macerin, identified the suspect as Marianito Sta. Maria from Pasay City. He had two aliases: “Robertson Bautista” and “Jayson Mallari.”

Police Lt. Johanna Sazon said in a text message to INQUIRER.net that Sta. María, an alleged “serial rapist,” has already victimized more than seven masseurs.

Sta. María was arrested by the Cubao police led by Police Major Jowilouie Bilaro during a chase operation along Edsa in Malibay, Pasay at 3:40 am

The police operation began after a freelance therapist, whose name was not revealed for her safety, reported that Sta. María allegedly stole cash from her and raped her on November 20.

The victim said Sta. Maria booked a two-hour cupping or cupping therapy through social media. They agreed to meet in an apartment in Cubao, Quezon City.

The victim said the suspect did not pay before the massage session at the apartment, claiming that he left his money inside his car when his cousin was driving it.

During massage therapy, the victim asked for payment a second time, but the suspect refused, saying that his cousin had an “accident.”

After the massage session, the victim again demanded payment for his services, but the suspect pulled out a knife and threatened the victim. Sta. Then Maria took the cash and the victim’s cell phone.

Next, Santa María forced the victim to undress and sexually abused her.

Other victims summoned to the police station also positively identified to the investigators that Sta. María was the “same person who raped them.”

Sta. María is being detained at QCPD while robbery and rape cases are being prepared before the Quezon City Attorney’s Office. [ac]
