MANILA, Philippines – Senator Koko Pimentel said Thursday that Senator Manny Pacquiao, who replaced him as chairman of the ruling Demokratiko Pilipino Lakas ng Bayan Party (PDP-Laban), will not only bring more energy but also discipline to the party.
This in terms of instilling in party members the “concept of principled politics that includes their membership in the party.”
Sen. Pacquiao will bring not only more energy to the party in the sense of expanding its membership but also more discipline in the current members in the sense of instilling in them the concept of principled politics that includes their membership of the party, ”Pimentel said in a statement.
Pacquiao will also begin educating party members and the public about his advocacy for peace and the economy, Pimentel added.
“I have asked to be allowed to focus on deepening our understanding of our ideology (5 core principles) and deepening our ties with our existing international allies,” he said.
On Wednesday night, Pacquiao was sworn in as president of PDP-Laban, effectively replacing Pimentel.
Pimentel will now serve as the party’s executive vice president.
