Angara hopes Kouame can naturalize in time for Fiba’s qualifier

SAMAHANG Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) President Senator Sonny Angara is hopeful that Ange Kouame can secure his Filipino citizenship in time for the third window of the 2021 Fiba Asia Cup qualifiers in February.

In response to the news that the Congrrdd Justice Committee approved Bill No. 5951 of the House, Angara tweeted her wish that the naturalization process of the Ivorian center also accelerate in the Senate.

“I hope that in the Senate we can do this before the qualifiers in February,” he wrote on Twitter. “Angelo Kouame loves the Philippines, he has really put down roots and is delighted with the prospect of naturalizing.

Angara is the lead author of Senate Bill No. 1892, presented on October 22, which seeks to grant citizenship to the former UAAP Rookie of the Year.

It is currently in its first reading on November 9 and has been endorsed by the Rules Commission chaired by Senator Miguel Zubiri.
