MANILA, Philippines – An additional 1,438 coronavirus patients as of Wednesday brought the total active cases to 26,916, the Department of Health (DOH) COVID-19 bulletin showed.
This brings the total number of COVID-19 cases in the country to 434,357.
According to the DOH, 232 more patients recovered from the disease, for a total of 399,005 recoveries, which represents 91.9 percent of all cases registered in the country. However, 18 more deaths bring the death toll to 8,436.
Of the active cases, most or 84.7 percent experience mild symptoms, 7.1 percent are asymptomatic, 2.7 percent have severe symptoms, and 5.2 percent are in critical condition.
Most of the new cases originated in Davao City with 142, followed by Laguna (89), Quezon City (80), Manila (63) and Pampanga (58).
At least 953 of the new cases came from tests performed on Tuesday, December 1, comprising 4.2 percent of the total of 22,538 tests performed that day.
The DOH said they have removed six duplicate entries from the total case count, of which three are recovered cases. They also reclassified six cases originally recorded as recoveries to deaths.
