1,438 New COVID-19 Cases Bring PH Count to 434,357

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, December 2) The country’s coronavirus case count rose to 434,357 on Wednesday, while the national recovery count approached 400,000.

In its last report, the Department of Health reported an increase of 1,438 new cases. However, he clarified that the updated count excludes data from 11 testing labs that did not submit their results on time.

The DOH said that the areas that saw the highest number of new patients include Davao City with 142, Laguna with 89, Quezon City with 80, City of Manila with 63 and Pampanga with 58.

Recovered COVID-19 patients also reached 399,005, and an additional 232 patients cleared of infection. However, eighteen new deaths brought the country’s death toll to 8,436.

These latest COVID-19 figures brought the country’s active cases or currently ill patients to 26,916, representing 6.2 percent of the total case count.

The department also noted that it reclassified six cases wrongly reported as recoveries as deaths and removed another six duplicates from the overall count.

Meanwhile, the number of Filipinos affected by the coronavirus abroad reached 11,719 with 11 new cases, according to the Department of Foreign Affairs.

The recovery count increased by six to 7,545, while deaths are still at 847.

Global cases have reached 63.8 million, including 1.4 million deaths and 41 million recoveries, the Johns Hopkins University tracker showed.
