Rather than a nod to the build and quality of the past, the upcoming Air Jordan 1 Mid “85” for kids is more of a celebration of OG colors. Similar to the Air Force 1 82 previously revealed, the pair adopts a split scheme, both feet acting as independent tributes to early Nike icons.
Although not an exact replica, the launch appears to be inspired by two original AF1s that debuted in the title year. On the left, bright reds hit the ankle flaps, swoosh, and tread, their polished finishes on each. The embroidery accentuates the edge of the check, matching the thread of the “85” text spaces below, while branding elsewhere is kept visually subtle. On the opposite side, the right foot follows the same execution to a specification close to 1: 1, only differing with the use of a cool royal blue.
Take an official look at these here and look forward to a release in the coming months on Nike.com and select retailers.
In other news, the Dunk Low Black White will launch in early January.
