MANILA – The Palawan city of Coron will reopen to local travelers on Tuesday, the Department of Tourism said on Sunday.
Tourists ages 15 to 65 must obtain a negative coronavirus RT-PCR test result within 72 hours before entering Coron, the agency said.
They must also have pre-arranged accommodation and tour packages and submit a health declaration form online at www.corontourism.ph. Once registration is approved, visitors will receive a QR code that will serve as a pass.
Ten hotels and resorts were allowed to operate subject to regular monitoring of health and safety standards, the DOT said.
“As we gradually reopen destinations, we continue to prioritize the health and safety of our visitors and tourism workers to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the country,” said Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat.
“We remind our LGUs (local government units) to enforce and monitor minimum health and safety standards, such as the use of masks and face shields, regular hand disinfection and observance of physical distancing.”
All tourists will undergo a health assessment at the Busuanga airport triage area and, if found to be symptomatic, antigen tests worth P3,500 will be required, according to the DOT.
If the traveler tests positive, they will take him to the hotel’s isolation room, he said.
All the commercial establishments in the town will operate at half capacity until 10:00 pm, he added.
