PH records 427,797 total COVID-19 infections; Davao City has the highest number of new cases

MANILA, Philippines – The Philippines recorded 1,893 new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) infections on Saturday, increasing the country’s total of cases to 427,797.

At 4 p.m., the Department of Health (DOH) wrote in its case bulletin that 7.3 percent of the total cases or 31,402 cases are active.

Of the additional 1,893 cases, the city of Davao, which recently returned to a general community quarantine, topped the list with 200 new virus infections.

This was followed by Negros Occidental with 123 new infections; Western Samar with 84; Pampanga with 60; and Quezon City with 57.

Meanwhile, 388,062 patients have recovered from the disease nationwide. This includes an additional 474 recoveries.

In addition, 79 more people died from the respiratory illness, bringing the death toll from COVID-19 in the country to 8,333.

After conducting additional validation, the health agency reported 14 duplicate cases that were removed from the total number of cases. Ten were recoveries and one was fatal.

Eighteen cases that were labeled as recoveries were reclassified as deaths, the DOH also noted.

Eleven molecular labs failed to submit their COVID-19 data to the health department on November 27, Friday.
