San-En NeoPhoenix guard Thirdy Ravena has tested positive for COVID-19 and is currently in isolation in his apartment, the team announced Friday night.

Ravenna complained of a sore throat, bodily discomfort and a fever of 38.2 ° C to the team’s medical staff on Thursday, and was subsequently examined.

“On the morning of November 26 (Thursday), he reported that he was in poor physical condition, and when the temperature was measured a fever of 38.2 ° C was confirmed,” the team said in a statement.

“Therefore, he informed the Toyohashi City Health Center and a designated medical institution under the direction of the Health Center,” he added.

Confirmatory tests at a medical center in Toyohashi said the 23-year-old did indeed have the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

In his latest report to the team on Friday, the Philippine rising star’s temperature had thankfully dropped to 36.9 ° C, while his sore throat had subsided. In addition, he said that his sense of taste and smell had returned.

The team had undergone RT-PCR testing last Monday and all had negative results on Tuesday. San-En then had a set-up match against Kanazawa Samuraiz at OSG Gymnasium.

On Thursday morning, Ravenna reported her flu-like symptoms. After registering the fever of 38.2 ° C, the team’s practice was immediately suspended.

Thirdy’s mother, Mozzy, confirmed to ESPN5.com that her son had been feeling better Thursday. His father, TNT coach Bong Ravena, on the other hand, said Thirdy continues his workouts to stay in shape during the two-week quarantine period.

The team is currently conducting contact tracing, both within San-En and among its opponents.

Ravena is averaging 12 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 23.7 minutes for the NeoPhoenix, who have a 2-13 scoreline. He is expected to miss the team’s next game, an away game against the Shimane Susanoo Magic on December 2.
