MANILA, Philippines – Foreign spouses and children of Filipino citizens, along with returning Filipinos or “balikbayans,” will be able to enter the Philippines starting December 7, Malacañang announced Friday.
“Former Filipino citizens, including their spouses and children, regardless of age, are also allowed to travel with them,” Presidential spokesman Harry Roque said in a statement.
They are allowed to enter the country as long as they secure a reservation at a quarantine facility and have a swab testing program at Philippine airports, Roque added.
“They should also be subject to the maximum incoming passenger capacity at the port and the date of entry.
Roque said that the Interagency Working Group for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) has already ordered the Immigration Office to formulate guidelines to guarantee the implementation of said policy.
The Department of Tourism was also instructed to issue guidelines on the provision of accommodation to the spouses and children of returning Filipinos, the Palace official added.
In November, the IATF allowed foreign investors with an investor visa to enter the country provided they had also pre-booked a quarantine facility and a swab test.
