(CNN) – Add Drake to the list of people who don’t sound happy that The Weeknd has been excluded from this year’s Grammy nominations.
The rapper took to social media to complain.
“I think we should stop being scandalized every year by the disconnect between shocking music and these awards and just accept that what was once the highest form of recognition may no longer matter to artists who exist now and those who They come later. “Drake wrote on his Instagram stories. “It’s like a relative you keep waiting to fix, but they just can’t change their ways.”
Despite the commercial and critical success of The Weeknd’s album “After Hours,” and many industry observers considered his single, “Blinding Lights,” a favorite for song of the year, it did not receive a Grammy Award.
Drake wrote that he had also thought that The Weeknd “was a lock for the album or song of the year along with a host of other reasonable assumptions and it just never goes that way.”
“This is a great time for someone to start something new that we can build over time and pass on to generations to come,” Drake said.
After the nominations were announced Tuesday, The Weeknd took to Twitter.
“The Grammys are still corrupt. You owe it to me, my fans and the industry for transparency,” he wrote.
