DAVAO del Norte’s provincial electoral supervisor attorney, Aimee Ferolino-Ampoloquio, has been appointed as the new commissioner of the Elections Commission (Comelec).

President Duterte nominated Ferolino-Amploquio for a period of six years or until February 2, 2027, replacing Commissioner Al Parreno in 2021. He will officially fulfill his mandate once confirmed by the Appointments Committee.

Ferolino-Ampoloquiou’s nomination completed the Comelec commission of seven men en banc.

All the members of the en banc, except Commissioner Rowena Guanzon, were appointed by Duterte. Guanzón was appointed by former President Benigno Aquino 3 and will end her term on February 2, 2022.

The other members of the Commissioner are Chief Sheriff Abas; and Commissioners Socorro Inting, Marlon Casquejo, Antonio Kho and Michael Peloton.

Ferolino-Amploquio rose through the ranks. She joined Comelec as an emergency worker in 1994 and then became an electoral assistant for 12 years.

She was later appointed an Election Officer in Davao City First District, a position she held for 10 years before becoming Davao del Norte Provincial Election Supervisor on August 3, 2018.
