Slapshock leader Jamir García dies at 42 – Manila Bulletin

Fans were shocked to learn of the death of Slapshock singer Jamir Garcia on Thursday.

According to a report from the Quezon City Police District Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (QCPD-CIDU), the singer hanged himself at his home in Proj. 8, Brgy. Sangandaan, Quezon City, Thursday.

His body was discovered by an aunt who immediately took him to Metro North Hospital and Medical Center.

It was there that he was finally pronounced dead upon arrival.

Garcia was 42 years old.

His death came a few months after Slapshock bassist Lee Nadela confirmed in September that the band had disbanded, revealing the ongoing friction between him and other members, including Garcia, guitarist Lean Ansing, drummer Chi Evora and guitarist Jerry Basco.

Nadela alleged that Garcia, Ansing, and Evora have been withdrawing the band’s royalties from their shared account on the Tunecore digital music platform without his and Basco’s consent.

The band popularized numerous songs such as “Cariño Brutal”, “Sigaw”, “Agent Orange”, among others.
