Moviegoers across the country will now be able to savor the delights of the QCinema International Film Festival.
No need to go to Quezon City for this special edition of QCinema. No need to rush to theaters, brave subway traffic, or stand in line to buy movie tickets. QCinema brings the experience of an international film festival to anyone in the country, from the comfort of their home, through any device connected to the Internet.
This is made possible by QCinema’s partnership with UPSTREAM and GMovies.
The film festival, which runs from November 27 to December 6, will air two sets of films for five days each.
Festival 1 program (November 27 to December 1)
It opens its virtual doors with ten award-winning and highly acclaimed films available to rent for just P 150.00 each.
Films include Cleaners by Glenn Barit, recipients of QCinema; Oda sa Wala by Dwein Baltazar; Balangiga: Howling Wilderness of Khavn; and Babae in Baril by Rae Red.
Apart from these films, QCinema also hosts the Asian premiere of Genus, Pan de Lav Diaz; the release in Southeast Asia of Canción sin nombre by Melina León and Amor divino by Gabriel Mascaro; and the Filipino premiere of Tran Thanh Huy’s Rom; Ray Yeung’s Suk Suk; and Corpus Christi by Mateusz Pacewicz.
Genus, Pan is a look at how much human beings are like animals. The film is the only Filipino entry at the 2020 Venice Film Festival. It also won Lav Díaz the best director award at the same festival.
Canción sin nombre is a 2019 Peruvian drama film directed by Melina León. It was screened in the Directors’ Fortnight section of the 2019 Cannes Film Festival. It is also the Peruvian entry to the Best International Feature Film at the 93 Academy Awards. The movie is about a mother who takes her newborn baby to a health clinic, but both the baby and the clinic disappear.
Rom is the first Vietnamese film to receive the New Current Awards at the 24th Busan International Film Festival. The film is about the residents of an apartment complex that is scheduled to be demolished.
Divine Love is a Brazilian drama screened in the World Dramatic Film Competition at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival. Divine Love tells the story of a religious woman who uses her position at work to help struggling couples save their marriage. While waiting for a compliment, you are faced with a personal crisis.
Suk Suk is a 2019 award-winning and critically acclaimed Hong Kong drama film about two secretly gay married men in their later years. This film premiered at the 24th Busan International Film Festival.
Corpus Christi is about a reformed criminal who cannot apply to seminary after his release. He dresses as a priest and ministers to a small town parish. It premiered at the 2019 Venice Film Festival and is the Polish entry into the 92nd Academy Award.

It will also host the world premiere of Dodo Dayao’s Midnight in a Perfect World; the Asian premiere of Marygoround by Daria Woszek and Fin de Siglo by Lucio Castro; the Southeast Asian premiere of Naomi Kawase’s True Mothers; and the Philippine premiere of Emir Ezwan’s Roh and David Lynch’s Mulholland Drive.
Midnight in a Perfect World is about four friends who try to survive the mysterious blackouts that occur in random parts of the city after midnight.
Marygoround is a black comedy drama about Mary, a lonely small-town grocery store worker and an agnostic collector of statues of the Virgin Mary, living a boring and uneventful life. Fighting against menopause, she consults her doctor, who prescribes a course of hormone replacement therapy.
End of the century tells the story of two men who meet in Barcelona and after spending a day together they realize that they already met twenty years ago.
True Mothers is Japan’s entry to the 93rd Academy Awards and is a 2020 Cannes Film Festival selection. True Mothers is about the adoptive parents of a five-year-old boy who are faced with the possibility that the troubled mother biological wants to get her baby back.
Roh is a 2019 Malay independent art indie horror film. It is Malaysia’s entry to the 93rd Academy Awards. Set in the past, the film is about a family in the forest who receives an unwelcoming visit from a strange girl, who arrives with a terrifying prediction.
The remastered version of David Lynch’s 2001 Mulholland Drive masterpiece follows a woman who becomes amnesic after a car accident on Los Angeles’ Mulholland Drive and an aspiring actress. The two embark on a citywide hunt for clues, where dreams and reality intertwine.

A limited number of tickets will be released per movie.
The QCinema festival packages will also be available for P 750.00 each. The packages give access to five movies and will also give away QCinema brand items.
