COVID-19 cases amount to 422,915 with 1,202 new infections

MANILA, Philippines – The number of COVID-19 cases in the Philippines rose to 422,915 when 1,202 new cases were recorded, the Department of Health (DOH) said on Wednesday.

The latest DOH data also showed that there were also 183 new recoveries and 31 deaths, bringing the total to 386,955 and 8,215, respectively.

There are 27,745 active cases of COVID-19 in the country, of which 83.7 percent are mild, 82 percent are asymptomatic, 5.1 percent are critical, 2.7 percent are severe, and 0.27 are moderate.

The city of Davao was identified as the area with the highest number of COVD-19 cases with 137, followed by the city of Quezón with 68, Batangas with 59, Laguna with 54 and Cavite with 47.

DOH said it discovered and removed nine duplicates, which are recoveries, from the total case count.

Additionally, there were 12 cases previously labeled as recoveries but later identified as deaths. One case was first identified as fatal, but was later reclassified as recovery after final validation. [ac]
